Write an equation of the line that passes through(-1,

3) and is parallel to the line y = 2x + 2.

Answer:

y = 2x + 3

Explanation:

The gradient (2x) is the same since the lines are parallel

The y-intercept(+3) is different however, since this line passes through co-ordinate (-1,3) It is +3 because in a co-ordinate the x and y co-ordinate is in this order (x,y). Therefore, the y number represents which y co-ordinate the line passed through the y axis.
