For the first bracket;
3u + 5 = 0
3u = -5 [subtract five from both sides]
u = -5/3 [divide both sides by 3]
For the second bracket;
2 - u = 0
-u = -2 [subtract 2 from both sides]
u = 2 [multiply both sides by -1]
Therefore u = -5/3, 2
