Velocity and acceleration are both vector quantities and are not constant because they continually change direction.

a = (v2 - v1) / t

2. V(avg) = (S2 + S1) / t = (1 m/s * 60 s + 3 m / s * 60 s) / 120 s

V = (60 + 180) / 120 m/s = 2 m/s
