Okay so first, we know that the total of the garden plus the walkway is 224 right?
Total=224
So with this in mind, we can use this for later on in the equation.

But first we want to look at the garden, and we have a length of width of 8 and a length of 10, with two other missing sides.
If you fill in the blanks, since if one length is 10, the other will be 10 since they are equal. Same goes for 8

This gives us
10+10+8+8= 36

Therefore, the total of the garden is 36, and now we have to find the total of the walk way.
So to do this, we will look back at the total from the start, 224, and minus it by 36. Which gives us, 188.

Now, With in mind that the entire length and width of the garden is 188, what is the number of each side?
Well since the walk way is a square, and a square has four sides, that is the number you will be dividing the total of the walkway by.
So, 188 divided by 4 equals, 47.

To prove that all of this is correct, you can do

47+47+47+47=188
Then
188+26= 224

I hope that helps! ( I would have drawn a visual.. but I can’t right now, I apologize)

Have a good day!
