Sharmeka is pushing a grocery cart down an aisle in Kroger at 2.75 m/s when she suddenly has to stop due cereal boxes falling off of the shelf and onto the floor. It takes her 1.28 m to react and come to a full stop. Calculate her acceleration during this time.

Answer:

Below

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the acceleration of Sharmeka you can use this formula :

vf^2 = vi^2 + 2(a)(d)

Given : vi = 2.75 m/s, vf = 0 m/s, d = 1.28 m a = ?

0^2 = 2.75^2 + 2(a)(1.28m)

0 = 7.5625 + 2.56a

- 7.5625 = 2.56a

- 2.954 m/s^2 = a

We need to round this to 3 sig figs: -2.95 m/s^2

Because acceleration is a vector, it needs a direction. You can choose either one, it doesn't really matter unless your teacher wants you to do it a specific way :

-2.95 m/s^2
[Forward]

OR

2.95 m/s^2
[Back]

Hope this helps! Best of luck <3
