then, literally just multiply them across.

meaning, top times top a.k.a. the numerator and bottom times bottom a.k.a. the denominator

positive x positive = positive

negative x negative = positive

positive x negative = negative

negative x positive = negative

so lets do the top, the numerators first: 1 x (-1) = -1

then the bottom, the denominators next: 2 x 4 = 8
