Ok so we have f(x) = 1/(2x) - 4 = 10.

We add 4 to both sides ⇒ 1/(2x) = 14.

We multiply both sides by 2x ⇒ 1 = 28x.

We divide both sides by 28 ⇒ x = 1/28.

*I interpreted 1/2x as 1/(2x) rather than x/2, but the principle is the same: Successively apply the same operation to both sides until x is isolated.
