Answer:

(8x+15)=(7x+17){ being alternative angle}

8x+15=7x+17

8x-7x=17-15

x=2

here,

8x+15= 8×2+15

16+15=31

7x+17

7×2+17

14+17

31

again

(8x+15)+y=180°( being straight angle)

31+y=180

y=180-31

y= 149

In the given figure, Angles (8x + 15) and (7x + 17) are equal

because they form pair of Alternate interior angles.

  • 8x + 15 = 7x + 17

  • 8x - 7x = 17 - 15

  • x = 2

So,

  • 8x + 15

  • ( 8* 2) + 15

  • 16 + 15

  • 31 \degree

now, as we can see Angle y and (8x + 15) are forming linear pair; so their sum measures 180°

  • (8x + 15) + y = 180

  • 31 + y = 180

  • y = 180 - 31

  • y = 149 \degree
