Explanation:

Original equation: -(x+4)-3x=x

Remember distributive property allows us to get rid of the parenthesis by bringing a multiplication from outside to inside a parenthesis.

-(x+4) = -x-4

= -x-4-3x=x

Now we combine like terms in this case we have (-x) and (-3x)

= -4x-4=x

Subtract x from both sides

= -4x-4=x

-x -x

-5x-4=0

Add 4 to both sides

-5x-4=0

+4 +4

-5x=4

Our final step is to divide both sides by -5
