What is a bar plot, and what do the vertical lines on a bar plot represent?

Answer: a bar plot is a type of graph. The vertical lines shows the amount/data.

May contain dates that show how many each day, month, year.

The way most teachers show this is with what people prefer like, favorite color, food, etc...

If you know what a graph looks like, then it is similar looking if not almost the same. The vertical lines represent what ever your x value is, in example the number of toys you have to how much they cost(ed) your x value would be the number of toys you have.
