Be careful NOT to use “hacer” for everything that you would in English. Particularly, do not use it for… (Check all that apply)

1. a helping verb (Do you know José?)
2. negative expressions (I do not understand.)
3. emphasis (They really do like you.)
4. slang (Let’s do lunch.)

I think it is 1, 2, and 3 since they all translate to

1. Conoces a Jose?

2. No entiendo

3. Deverdad le gustas

4. Vamos a hacer almuerzo
