Explanation:

Given: Two congruent sides, (DE and EF). Anlge. E is 36.

Let angle F be x°.

According to the base isoceles triangle theroem,

  • Two angles are equal if the sides they are opposite from are equal.

Since Angle F is opposite from DE and Angle D is opposite from EF, and DE=EF.

Angle D = Angle F.

So using transitive property, Angle D is x°. as well.

All angles in triangles add up to 180 so


36 + x + x + = 180


36 + 2x = 180


2x = 144


x = 72

So angle F is 72°.

Since DF is opposite from 36°, the shortest angle, DF is the shortest side.
