Sally and Lucy had an equal amount of money each. After Sally spent $15 and Lucy spent $24, the ratio of Sally’s money to Lucy’s money was 4:3. How much money did each girl have at first?

Answer:

27

Explanation

Sally = 4 x 3 = 12(left) + 15(spent) = 27

Lucy = 24(spent) + 3(left) = 27 (we dont multiply this part bc Lucy spent 9 more dollars than Sally, 3 x 3 is 9 which equals the difference)
