Two more than a number divided by 3 is 6. what is that number

this confused me alot so pls pls help :(

Given :-

  • two more than a number divided by 3 is 6.

To find :-

  • That number .

Solution :-

Let :-

  • The number = x .

According to the statement :-

  • (x + 2) / 3 = 6

Simplify :-

  • x + 2 = 6*3
  • x + 2 = 18
  • x = 18 - 2
  • x = 16
