In △ABC, AB=4, BC=5, and CA=6. In △EFG, EF=400, FG=500, and GE=600. Is △ABC similar to △EFG? If so, what is the scale factor?

A. similar, scale factor = 10
B. similar, scale factor = 100

Answer:

similar, scale factor = 100

Explanation:

Consider, △ABC is similar to △EFG,

Then,

AB/BC=EF/FG

4/5k=400/500

Here, scale factor k is 100.

To verify, they are similar, do this for all with scale factor k.

AB/CA=EF/EG

4/6k=400/600

Which is true,

CA/BC=EG/FG

6/5k=600/500

Which is also true, we can conclude, the triangles are similar and scale factor is 100.
