Three consecutive integers are such that three times

the largest exceeds the sum of the two smaller inte-
gers by 47. Find the integers.

x, x+1 and x+2.

So,

(x+2)*3 > 2x+1.

(x+2)*3 is equal to 3x + 6

so 3x+6-47 = 2x+1

If something +6, then -47, it is the same as -41.

3x-41 = 2x+1

3x = 2x+42

So x is 42.

The integers therefore are

42, 43 and 44.

To test this, 44x3 is 132.

42+43=85
