Another method is to keep substituting from negative to positive.

(-3)^3 = -27

(-2)^3 = -8

(-1)^3 = -1

0^3 = 0

1^3 = 1

2^3 = 8

3^3 = 27

...

As you see if we keep substituting higher values, the graph or y-value will keep increasing.

Say it as y increases if x increases.
