You can draw your own diagram. Start with the right angle at O. No just label one end (other than O) equal to M. Label the other end of the right angle as N. Don't worry it doesn't look right. All will come out in the wash when you do the ratios.

Join MN

MN is the hypotenuse. Label it as 89 somewhere near the middle.

ON is 39 and MO is 80.

Now you want the Tangent of <M.

Tangent of M = Opposite / Adjacent. You have to actually do this. The opposite side of <M is the one that does not contain the letter M. It is NO.

The adjacent side is not the hypotenuse and does contain the letter M. It is OM

opposite = NO = 39

opposite = MO = 80

Tan<M = 39/80 = 0.4875

I really suggest you go through all the steps. You will a lot by doing it.
