A soccer field is a rectangle 90 meters wide and 120 meters long. The coach asks players to run from one corner to the corner diagonally across. What is this distance?

Draw the outline of the soccer field on paper and you will see that when you draw the diagonal, you have formed two equal right triangles. Label the three sides of one of the trianles a,b, and c, letting c represent the diagonal. Using Pythagorus' Theorem, C2 = A2 + B2. Lets substitute our numbers into the equation:
C2 = 902 + 1202 = 8100 + 14400 = 22500. Now we take the square root of both sides of the equations so it’s 150
