if it is a right angle triangle then;

step 1 Determine if hypotenuse or side

step 2 calculate a^2+b^2 = c^2 or c^2-b^2 = a^2 if not given hypotenuse.

if it is an obtuse or scalene triangle then

step 1. Determine the triangle third length we use trigonometry as cos (side a/sideb) to determines the angle between a and b.

With such angle for opposite side we can use sin (angle) x side to find hypotenuse or sin(angle) x hypotenuse to find side.
