$\\ \rm\Rrightarrow Molarity=(Moles\:of\:solute)/(Volume\:of\: solution \:in\:L)$

$\\ \rm\Rrightarrow 1=(n)/(0.5)$

$\\ \rm\Rrightarrow n=0.5mol$

$\\ \rm\Rrightarrow n=(Given\:mass)/(Molar\:mass)$

$\\ \rm\Rrightarrow 0.5=(Given\:mass)/(40)$

$\\ \rm\Rrightarrow Given\:mass=40(0.5)=20g$
