Answer:

Explanation:

Distribute the 2/3

-> 2/3 x - 10/12 = 1/2

now isolate the x. So add 10/12 to the other side of the equation

->2/3x = 16/12 (don't forget need a common denominator when adding fractions)

Divide 2/3 to both sides to get x by itself.

When you divide 2/3 on the left side you will be left will x

To divide a fraction by a fraction, you flip the fraction and multiply it. (multiply by the conjugate)

-> (16/12) / (2/3) is the same as (16/12) x (3/2)

Multiply that out:

->16 x 3 = 48 and 12 x 2 = 24.

Left with 48/24

Simplify that and =2

*you can also check that the answer is correct by plugging in the value

2/3 (2-5/4) and that will equal 1/2
