The ratio of red apples to tomatoes is3:4. If there are 27 red apples, how many tomatoes are there?

Answer: 36 tomatoes

Explanation:

Look at the ratio 3 red apples to 4 tomatoes.

There are 27 red apples and a mysterious number of tomatoes. Well in order for this relationship to work the number of tomatoes have to dividable by 9 in order for this to work.

So if you do 3*9 that is 27 red apples.

Then you do 4*9 and that is 36 tomatoes.

So the new ratio is 27:36 making there being 36 tomatoes.

let's say tomatoes are x

3:4

27:x

27 ÷ 3 is 9

9 × 4 = 36

therefore the answer is 27:36

36 tomatoes
