The length of a rectangle is 2 times the width. The area is 32 square meters. Find the length and width of the rectangle.

Answer:

length=8m

width=4m

Explanation:

let x represent width

since length is two times the width,length=2x

Area= length×width

32 =2x × x

32 =2x²

Divide both side by the co-efficient of x which is 2

=32/2=2x²/2

16=x²

Find the square root of both sides to make x² change to x

√16=√x²

4=x

therefore x=4

therefore width=x

=4cm

length=2x

=2(4)

=8cm
