Explanation:

1. ) 7/9 multiply x 4 and 5/12 multiply x 3 , to get the same denominator( bottom number)

2.) once you multiply 7/9 by 4 you should get 28/36 and once you multiply 5/12 by 3 you should get 15/36

3.) Now add the numerator( top numbers) so add 15 and 28 = 43

4.) Next put 43 as the numerator(top number) and 36 as the denominator (bottom number) = 43/36

Answer:

1. 43/36

2. 1/2

Explanation:

1. 7/9 + 5/12

= LCM of 9 and 12 is 36

= 28/36 + 15/12

= (28 + 15) / 36

= 43/36

2. 21/24 - 3/8

= LCM of 24 and 8 is 24

= 21/24 - 9/24

= (21 - 9) / 24

= 12/24

= 1/2
