The perimeter of a rectangle is 244. The length is 10 more than 3 times the width. Find the dimensions.

The length is 94 and the width is 28

Explanation:

The Rectangle Perimeter Formula is P=2(l+w)

We know the formula for the length is l=10+3w

Where w is the width

We can insert the formula for the length into the rectabular perimeter formula.

244=2(10+3w+w)

244=2(10+4w)

244=20+8w

Subract 20

224 = 8w

Divide by 8 to get w

28 = w

Now that we have the width we can insert it into the length formual to find the length

l = 10+(3)28

l = 10+ 84

l = 94

Based on these calculations the dimensions are 94x28. To prove it we put both values into the Rectangular Perimeter formula.

P = 2 (94+28)

P = 2(122)

p = 244

The answers match therefore it is correct.
