I am not absolutely sure what you need, and if that problem statement is complete.

but if you just need to know on what axis (x or y) this point is an intercept point, then just think :

x = 0.

where on a coordinate grid is x = 0 ?

every point on the y-axis has x = 0.

if x would be different to 0, then the point would be somewhere to the right or the left of the y-axis.

so, (0, -2) is an interception point on the y-axis.
