2. Which equation has the steepest graph?

Answer Choices:
y= 3/4 x - 9
y = 9x + 3
y = -11x - 5
y = -x + 6

Which equation has the least steep graph?

Answer Choices:
y= 1/4 x + 2
y= 3x - 14
y= - 3/4 x + 7
y= -8x - 9

Which equation has the least steep graph?

Answer Choices:
y= 6x - 2
y= 2x
y= x - 11
y= 1/2 x + 6

If y = 5x + 1 is changed to y = 2x + 1, how would the graph of the new function compare with the first one?

Answer Choices:
It would be steeper.
It would be shifted down.
It would be less steep.
It would be shifted left.

If y = -2x + 4 is changed to y = -2x - 7, how would the graph of the new function compare with the first one?

Answer Choices:
It would be shifted up.
It would be steeper.
It would be shifted right.
It would be shifted down.

If you wanted to make the graph of y = 6x - 3 steeper, which equation could you use?

Answer Choices:
y = -8x -3
y = 6x + 5
y = 3x - 3
y = -6x - 3

If you wanted to make the graph of y = 3/4 x + 9 less steep, which equation could you use?

Answer Choices:
y = x + 9
y = -5x + 9
y = 1/4 x + 9
y = 3/4 x + 1

If you wanted to shift the graph of y = 3x + 4 down, which equation could you use?

Answer Choices:
y = 3x + 8
y = 3x - 1
y = 2x + 4
y = -5x + 4

If you wanted to shift the graph of y = -5x - 8 up, which equation could you use?

Answer Choices:
y = 5x - 8

2. a) absolute values for the slopes

y = mx + c

3/4, 9,-11, -1 = 3/4, 9,11, 1

the higher the slope, the steeper the graph. 11 is high,

y = -11x - 5

b) 1/4,3,-3/4,-8 = 1/4,3,3/4,8

smaller value is 3/4

the least steep graph will be in,

y = -3/4x + 7

c) 6,2,1, 1/2

1/2 is the smallest value.

y = 1/2x + 6

d) It would be less steep.

e) It would be shifted down.

f) y = -8x - 3

g) y = 1/4x + 9

h) y = 3x - 1

i) y = -5x - 10
