When we talk about domain, they are asking for "are there any restrictions on the x values?" Seeing that this function is a root function we know that there will absolutely be some sort of restriction on the x's. Square root functions look like a line which starts at the origin and then just extends up and out.

The transformations applied to this are a horizontal compression by a factor of 1/12 and a horizontal translation of 36 units to the right. Now because of that 12 we have to factor it out of the equation to look something like this :

f(x) = 12 x rt -3

And from this equation we can find the domain

Because the function has moved 3 units to the right, all of the x values must be LARGER than 3 so...

{ x E R | x > 3 ]
