Answer:

(6+x)*x = 55

x^2 + 6x -55 = 0

Find all the factors of -55

-1 * 55

-5 * 11 ✓

-11 * 5

-55 * 1

Which on has a difference of +6?

(x + 11)(x - 5) = 0

Set both equal to 0 and solve for x

x + 11 = 0

x = -11

x - 5 = 0

x = 5

Since we are dealing with length, then we have to have a positive number. So we have to use x = 5.

length = 6 + 5 = 11

width = 5
