An ant is dragging a housefly and the elephant is pushing a big tree which is not moving. Who is doing work, the ant or the elephant? Justify your answer. ​

The ant is doing work but the elephant is not

Step-by-step explanation:

Work done = Force × Displacement

In case of ant and housefly,

Ants are dragging the housefly , so they are displacing the housefly from one point to the other by applying certain force , so we can say that they are doing work

In case of elephant and tree,

When the elephant is pushing the tree( applying force) , the tree is not moving which means that there is no Displacement, so work done will be

Work done = Force × Displacement

= Force × 0

= 0
