His goal each week is to make more than $500 from selling tables and chairs and work no more than 40 hours. The region representing the solution set for the problem is shaded in the diagram. The solution is region 8 tables and 0 chairs. By making and selling 8 tables, the carpenter will work for 40 hours and make $800. This is his maximum profit.
