A scuba diver is at an elevation of −40 feet. The diver starts moving at a rate of −16 feet per minute. Write an inequality that represents how long it will take the diver to reach an elevation deeper than −310 feet.

\\ \sf\longmapsto 40+16t\leqslant 310


\\ \sf\longmapsto 16t\leqslant 310-40=270


\\ \sf\longmapsto t\leqslant (270)/(16)


\\ \sf\longmapsto t\leqslant 17s

  • It will take at least 17s to go 310ft deeper
