The arteries are red and the veins are blue.
Arteries carry oxygenated blood whereas the veins carry deoxygenated blood (Co2 rich blood).
The middle of the picture which looks like a web of nerves is the capillaries, this is where gaseous exchange takes place between cells and the arteries/veins.
