Solve the equation by substitution method ;


5x - y = 8 \\ y = 5x - 8


7x + 4y = 22 \\ 7x + 4(5x - 8) = 22 \\ 7x + 20x - 32 = 22 \\ 27x - 32 = 22 \\ 27x = 22 + 32 \\ 27x = 54 \\ \\ x = (54)/(27) \\ \\ x = 2


y = 5x - 8 \\ y = 5(2) - 8 \\ y = 10 - 8 \\ y = 2

(x , y ) —> ( 2 , 2 )
