This is the order that your calculation needs to go in.

So the question states 3 - (1/3)^4

So first we work out 1/3^4 which is 1/3 x 1/3 x 1/3 x 1/3

This becomes 1/81

Then you do 3 - 1/81 which becomes 242/81

3/1 - 1/81

243/81 - 1/81 (after finding the LCM of the denominator)

242/81
