On a farm there are a total of 50 cows and chickens. these animals have a total of 124 legs in all how many more chickens then cows are there

please explain how you solved this problem show your work thanks ​

Explanation:

Each cow has four legs, while each chicken has two.

Assume that all
50 animals are cows. Under this assumption, there would be
4 * 50 = 200 legs in total.

For each chicken counted as a cow, this calculation would have counted
(4 - 2) = 2 extra legs.

In total, this calculation counted
200 - 124 = 76 extra legs. Since every two extra legs correspond to a chicken, those
76 extra legs would correspond to
76 / 2 = 38 chickens counted as cows.

In other words,
38 of those
50 animals are chicken. There would then be
50 - 38 = 12 cows among those animals.
