I believe from the helmets and the way that they are dressed that they are Spaniards in the middle of conquering some place and I notice priests at the front either begging for mercy or praying for victory. Idea for A short story: about this would be they had just chased an enemy across a river, and they were cursing their enemy with priests because they could not chase them across. I can add more details unless you want to dot that on your own. :)

Try and use your imagination. Maybe there is a large, blinding ball of light and the people are worshiping it. It could be anything. Once you have thought of something it could be, try and create a story by constructing some background information. Why are they worshiping it? Where does this take place? When does this take place?
