{( - 2)}^(p + 7) * {( - 2)}^(p + 8) = {( - 2)}^(9) \\ = > {( - 2)}^(p + 7 + p + 8) = {( - 2)}^(9) \\ = > {( - 2)}^(2p + 15) = {( - 2)}^(9) \\ = > 2p + 15 = 9 \\ = > 2p = 9 - 15 \\ = > 2p = - 6 \\ = > p = ( - 6)/(2) \\ = > p = - 3

The answer is -3.
