Answer: For one thing, the Egyptian civilization lasted much longer than the Mayan, several thousand years as opposed to six or seven hundred. While both built pyramids, the Egyptian ones were much more impressive. One similarity was, both were very dependent on agriculture and the water needed to sustain it, in the case of Egypt the Nile and for the Maya the ground. The Mayan civilization was thus very susceptible to droughts, and one of those combined with the Spanish invasion was ultimately responsible for its demise.
