A plant food recipe calls for 1 1/2 cups of fertilizer for every 3 3/4 cups of water. If a gardener makes a 42 cup of plant food using the proportions of the recipe which statement is true

Explanation:

Firstly we need to ratio the fertilizer to plant food:


1(1)/(2) : 3 (3)/(4)

Lets add these two values together:


1(1)/(2) + 3 (3)/(4) = 5 (1)/(4)

So now we know one of each, we can divide the above value into 42 to find out the amount:

42 ÷
5(1)/(4) = 8

So this means that 8 portions of each can be used. This can calculate the full ratio by multiplying each ratio by 8:


(1(1)/(2) * 8) : (3 (3)/(4) * 8) =

12 : 30
