Answer:

area of the rectangle =

{93.75cm}^(2)

Explanation:

width = x cm

length = x + 5 cm

Perimeter = 2(length + width)

p = 2(x + (x + 5)) \\ 40 = 2(x + x + 5) \\ 40 = 2(2x + 5) \\ 40 = 4x + 10 \\ 40 - 10 = 4x \\ 30 = 4x \\ (30)/(4) = x \\ 7.5 = x

width = 7.5cm

length = 7.5 + 5 = 12.5cm

Area of the rectangle = length × width

a = 12.5cm * 7.5 cm\\ a = 93.75 {cm}^(2)
