"White Man's Burden" and the political cartoon.

As the west started to have curiosity and desires for more, they traveled to lesser developed nations for resources. The west viewed these developing countries and their indigenous people as inferior to them, as if it was the duty of the west to bring the people of developing countries and conform them to the western culture and standards that they saw as correct. in the poem "The White Mans Burden"(1899), Rudyard Kipling goes into to detail on how the Native people in the developing countries were seen, using terms such as "half devil" when referring to the native people. The poem also illustrates how the west belittles these developing nations and their people, repeatedly saying that helping these nations and conforming its people is a mission for the west, encouraging westerners to "Take up the white mans burden" the burden being the indigenous people of these developing nations
