Peter is working on a project that requires 8 1/4

tons of sod. If his truck only holds 1 1/2 tons, how
many trips will he need to make?
Need a step by step plz :/

8 1/4 = 32/4 + 1/4 = 33/4

1 1/2 = 2/2 + 1/2 = 3/2

how many trips ? we need to see how often 3/2 fits into 33/4. that is a division

33/4 / 3/2

remember, dividing by a fraction is the same as multiplying with the inserted fraction.

so,

33/4 / 3/2 = 33/4 × 2/3 = 33×2 / 4×3 = 33 / 2×3 = 11/2 =

5.5 or 5 1/2

so, it will take 5 1/2 truck loads of 6 trips (with the last one being only half full).
