Why is a vacuole needed in plant cells

Plant cells use the vacuole to store water. This helps put pressure on the cell wall so that the plant doesn’t go limp/flaccid. Without the large vacuole, plants would lose their shape.

In plant cells, vacuoles help maintain water balance. Sometimes a single vacuole can take up most of the interior space of the plant cell
