A bear belongs to the phylum Chordata (because it has a spine), the class Mammalia (mammals have many distinguishing characteristics, including hair and producing milk for their young), the order Carnivora (will usually eat meat--some bears are exceptions in this category), the family Ursidae (the bear family of animals). The genus and species are the particular type of bear, in this case, let's say it's a brown bear. So our genus would be Ursus, and our species would be arctos. Yes. I think so it's like that only.
