Jeremy and his sister are visiting a fair. It costs $8 for both of them to enter the fair as well as a $0.50 for each game that they play. The siblings have $20 to spend at the fair. Write an inequality to determine the number of games that they can play at the fair?

x=$10

y=$12

Step one:

given

let senior tickets be x

and child be y

8x+9y=188----1

also on the second day

x+5y=70-------2

the system of equation is

8x+9y=188-----1

x+5y=70---------2

x=70-5y, put this in 1

8(70-5y)+9y=188

560-40y+9y=188

-31y=-372

divide by -31

y=-372/-31

y=$12

put y= 12 in x+5y=70---------2

x+5(12)=70---------2

x+60=70

x=$10
