Resolve the following vectors.

a. 75 grams at 130°

I was just given this prelab to do and I have no idea where to start solving this as she hasn’t gone over anything about it, and the lab procedure doesn’t clear anything up. I just need to see this one problem worked out.

Answer:

Let A be the vector

Ax = A cos theta = A cos 130 = -A cos 50 = 75 * (-.643) = -48.2

Ay = A sin theta = A sin 50 = 75 (.766) = 57.5

Note: the scalar value of A above is 75 g

This gives the vector components of A ( these can also be added or

subtracted from the components of another vector giving the components of sum (difference) of vectors A and B)
