The solution will be as follows;

  • -3 - (a - 2) = 7a + 15
  • -3 -a + 2 = 7a + 15
  • -1 - a = 7a + 15
  • - a - 7a = 15 + 1
  • -8a = 16
  • -a = 16 ÷ 8
  • -a = 2
  • a = -2

And finally, the value of a is -2.
