Answer: 3x + 2 = 12

Explanation:

We need to put x for the number we don’t know and we are adding. So, it’s x + 2 like the question says it’s adding 2. But we are also multiplying by 3 so it would be 3 times the unknown number. We know that the unknown number would end up making the equation true.
